From a fresh install to your first page in a few minutes. You need a Divi 5 site (Divi 5.7 or later), WordPress admin access, and an AI app — Claude (a free claude.ai account works), ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini CLI, Antigravity, or any other app that speaks MCP.
1. Install and activate #
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the Divi Connect zip and press Install Now, then Activate.
- If you bought Professional, activate your licence key when Divi Connect asks. Pro unlocks on the same plugin; your settings and pages stay as they are.

2. Connect your AI #
- Open Divi Connect → Connection.
- Pick your AI app, then choose how it signs in:
– Sign in with WordPress (OAuth) — recommended. Each person gets their own connection, which you can end at any time.
– Use the connector key (API key) — one shared key carried inside the address. It works with every app. - Follow the steps on that screen. Everything you need to copy is there.

Apps that connect from their own servers — claude.ai, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT — need your site to be reachable from the internet. For a local site, use a tunnel or an app that runs on your computer, such as Claude Code. See Connecting a local site.
The Divi 5 Skill — what teaches your AI to write valid, on-brand Divi 5 — is built into the connector and loads by itself. There is nothing else to install.
3. Build your first page #
Start a new chat and say which site to use — your AI will not reach for it on its own:
“Using my connected Divi site, read my design system and tell me what you found.”
It lists your colors, variables and presets, which confirms the connection. Then describe a page:
“Using my connected Divi site, build a services page with a hero, three service cards in my brand colors, and a call-to-action. Save it as a draft.”
Open the page in the Divi builder to review it, and ask for changes the same way — “make the hero background my secondary color”. More ideas: Building Pages.
4. Good to know #
- Every change can be undone. Divi Connect takes a copy before it changes a page or your design system. Restore one from Divi Connect → History & Activity.
- Deleting asks first. Your AI confirms before it deletes, and pages go to the Trash unless you ask for a permanent delete.
- Want it more careful? Divi Connect → Settings has switches that, for example, create every new page as a draft, or make your AI ask before it replaces the content of an existing page.

🔒 A connector address that contains your key is a password. Do not share it; if it leaks, regenerate the key on the Connection screen.
